Location

Northallerton is the County Town of North Yorkshire (the largest geographical county) and has also been the administrative centre for the County  since the early 1700's. As such it has a rich history of public administration.

The Ridings originated in Anglo Scandinavian times and our society has chosen to use the Wapentake of this era as its area of interest. In fact the Society very often chooses to stage events of wider County interest, and will gladly co-operate with any interested groups across the County.
